There were three outbreaks of Newcastle disease in Israel, starting between 6 and 17 April, according to Follow-up Report No.18 dated 19 April from the veterinary authority to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

Two of the flocks were in the HaSharon region of Hamerkaz and one was in Hazafon.

The first was a small backyard flock. The others were in a flock of 33,000 36-week-old heavy breeders and in a 4,000-strong flock on 31-week-old laying hens.

In total, 37,030 birds were affected; around 800 showed symptoms and all the birds have been destroyed.
