US – Growing demand for animal proteins will result in an $11 billion packaging segment for the US in four years time.
Change will stem from population expansion, more meat, poultry and seafood production and greater export opportunities, says reportlinker.
Furthermore, consumers will be demanding more prepared food and smaller-sized portions.
The report predicts flexible packaging growth to outpace rigid packaging. This means growth of pouches for deli meats and seafoods and high barrier film for case ready meats.
In terms of rigid packaging, more prepared meat in supermarkets will mean more plastic containers.
The report also expects strong demand for corrugated cardboard, the industry’s primary rigid container.
