French Poultry Companies Fined for Price Fixing

12 May 2015

FRANCE - The French competition authority, L’Authorité de la Concurrence, has fine the French poultry sector €15.2 million for price collusion between 2000 and 2007.

A total of 21 companies and two organisations have been fined.

The sanctions follow an investigation report published in 2011 by the Economic Ministry following investigations and seizures made in December 2007.

The Competition Authority report condemns virtually the entire French poultry sector producing chicken, turkey, duck, guinea fowl and rabbit.

It says that the French Association of Poultry Processors and 17 companies including some of the major processors that colluded to set prices between 2000 and 2007, have now agreed a protocol of transparency for prices in the sector.
