More Avian Flu Outbreaks Hit Nigeria

NIGERIA - There have been 46 new outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Nigeria.

The outbreaks were of the H5N1 serotype.

In total, there were 14288 cases of avian flu in a susceptible population of 142382 birds.

The outbreaks affected mostly laying hens of different ages. There were nine outbreaks in backyard flocks and the rest occurred on farms.
