More HPAI Detected in Nigerian Layers, Broilers

NIGERIA - More Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has been detected in Nigeria.

In total, five outbreaks were reported on farms in the south of the country.

Of the 27,926 birds susceptible, there were 4,244 cases leading to 4,244 deaths and 5682 destroyed.

The birds affected included five weeks old pullets, 32 week old layers, young cockerels and young broilers.

The birds were sourced from one of the infected states that is known for commercial eggs hatcheries.
