China, US Discuss Bilateral Poultry Trade

CHINA - China's Agriculture Minister Han Changfu met US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on the sidelines of a trade meeting between the two countries in Guangzhou this week.

The two sides exchanged views on bilateral agricultural cooperation.

According to reports from the Chinese Agriculture Ministry, Mr Han pointed out that agriculture is one of the very first areas where China and the US started to work together. With 3 decades of development, agricultural cooperation has become an important component of the bilateral relations.

Mr Han said that the two sides should jointly implement the agricultural outcome of President Xi Jinping's visit to the US, to boost sustained and healthy agricultural development in both countries for mutual benefit.

Mr Vilsack reportedly expressed his willingness to promote the resolution of issues of China's concern, including the export of Chinese poultry products to US, and jointly push forward the sound development of bilateral agricultural cooperation.
