Canadians Reminded of US Poultry Import Rules After Bird Flu
CANADA - Canada's Border Services Agency (CBSA) has reminded travellers of the restrictions on poultry products coming into Canada from the US following the avian influenza outbreaks earlier this year.

By: Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) restrictions say that all raw poultry, and all poultry products and by-products, as well as other birds or bird products sold commercially that are not fully cooked, coming from certain US states are prohibited from entry into Canada until further notice.
The restricted US states are Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
CBSA advised that shoppers who buy poultry or eggs in the US should make sure the packaging indicates the product comes from a state other than an avian influenza restriction-affected state. If the state of origin is unclear, the product may be prohibited from entry.
Local media reports suggest that a wild duck was found infected with avian influenza in Canada last week. Migrating bird populations are expected to carry the disease.
