Cameroon Reports Avian Flu Outbreak

CAMEROON - Fifteen thousand birds have died in an outbreak of avian influenza in Yaounde, the capital city of Cameroon.

Unusual mortality levels were observed at the affected poultry farm during official surveillance, according to reports from local agency Africa News.

Officials are reportedly strengthening measures to control the disease, and slaughtering and disposal of the birds at the unit is under way.
