Avian Flu Hits Backyard Birds in Viet Nam

VIET NAM - Three hundred birds have died and another 500 have been destroyed in an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Viet Nam's Ca Mau province.

The H5N1 strain outbreak affected backyard birds, similar to the last outbreak in July.

As well as stamping out the disease on the holding, the country is implementing surveillance and vaccination in response to the outbreak.
