In what has to be one of the most inventive industry seminars in years, Hå Rugeri AS, an Aviagen SweChick Ross® parent stock customer, arranged the event for 46 of its rearing and breeder farmers.

Aviagen SweChick sponsored the event, which took its passengers on a return journey between Oslo and Kiel, Germany.

The theme of the seminar was “How to improve quality and uniformity throughout the whole production period.” Glenn Bushell and Niamh Molloy, both technical service managers for Aviagen, held talks on uniformity and egg management, respectively. Thomas Carlson, general manager, Aviagen SweChick, gave a presentation on “The quality of parent stock and its effect on the value chain.”

Arild Pollestad, managing director of Hå Rugeri AS, said, “We aimed to combine an informative academic program with an opportunity for attendees to socialize with their peers. We are grateful for Aviagen and Aviagen SweChick’s contributions and the presentations from Glenn, Niamh and Thomas were extremely engaging, sparking interesting discussions.”

Following a day trip to Kiel, delegates took part in a science-based program, which was followed by a talk-show style question and answer session.

Carlson, who took part in the talk-show segment, added, “Hosting a working conference on a boat was a really novel way for us to share information. It provided a great opportunity for us to hear insights from various guests of Hå Rugeri AS. Taking questions from delegates as part of the talk show was a particular highlight for me.”
