According to TheJakartaPost, Jakarta Economic Bureau head Sri Haryati said on Tuesday the proposal “has been approved by acting governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat,” adding that both parties had also agreed on the price.

Meanwhile, Arief Prasetyo Adi, president director of food security company PT. Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, said rising staple food prices during the fasting month had become an annual occurrence, but by procuring more eggs to the capital, the administration was trying to control the price.

“We have prepared some measures, therefore there will be no uncontrollable price increases,” he said, as quoted by beritajakarta.id.

Previously, the Jakarta administration said it would set up staple food bazaars in 70 locations throughout the city in a bid to control food prices during Ramadhan by ensuring the availability of stocks.

The city administration has also prepared 25,000 tons of rice, 1,000 tons of sugar and 1 million liters of cooking oil as well as 500 tons of beef.
