According to Mehr News Agency, Secretary-General of Iran's Association of Egg-Laying Hen Producers Farzad Talakesh said Iraq has been allowing arrival of Iranian eggs at its borders over the past fortnight.

The country’s exporters are presently facing no limits, except for the fact that Iranian egg prices are higher than those of other competitors, he said.

Mr Talakesh also said that exporting firms managed to ship eggs to Qatar, explaining that the consignment had comprised a 20-ton container and had been shipped experimentally.

He however criticized the lack of coordinated exports as Iranian traders set out to conduct marketing procedures individually.

On egg exports to Afghanistan, Mr Talakesh said the process had kicked on 22 April and approximately 1500 tons on the product have been so far sold to the neighboring country.

"Iraqis are also willing to purchase Iranian eggs due to high quality of the product and religious commonalities," underlined the official explaining that the two sides have, however, failed to hit an accord as far as pricing issues are concerned.
