The winning flock of Cobb500 parents at its Jordberga farm, near Malmo, achieved 145.90 chicks / bird to 60 weeks of age. The farm is managed by Maria Tingbacke under Blenta area manager Anders Persson.

In presenting the award to Anders Persson at Sjobo, Sweden, Cobb Europe account manager for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia Tom Procter said he was delighted to recognize this achievement by Anders and the team within the Blenta group, confirming that Cobb500 is a balanced bird giving customers the potential for worldclass performance in all areas of production.

“The team at Blenta has again demonstrated excellent attention to detail in every aspect of management which has helped them to maximize the genetic potential of the bird,” he said.

“The way they reared the flock provided the basis for the high chick numbers. The flock was uniform and achieved an ideal 36 percent increase in bodyweight from 16 to 20 weeks to attain the right condition going into lay. The high peak, persistency and particularly low mortality all contributed to this top result.” Torbjörn Persson, Blenta chief executive, stated: "We are very happy to achieve a Cobb Champion prize for the best performing flock in the category for chicks produced during 2016.

“Our production has been good over the years, but it always gives an extra positive injection to our team when we have the best results in the whole region of Europe, Middle East and Africa. This follows our previous success with the top performing flock in 2015 with 90 percent hatchability."

Cobb Champion Awards were introduced in 2015 to recognize outstanding performance at breeder, hatchery and broilers levels and have been won by some of the top companies throughout the EMEA region.
