CFIA Recalls Maple Leaf Brand Chicken Breast Strips

02 November 2017

CANADA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling some of Maple Leaf's chicken breast strips across the country due to reported illnesses.

The CFIA recalled the product yesterday (1 November), due to microbiological reasons which fall under the Class 2 hazard classification.

Maple Leaf brand Chicken Breast Strips have been recalled from the marketplace because they may contain toxins produced by Staphylococcus bacteria.

The CFIA has warned consumers not to consume the recalled product described as "Maple Leaf Chicken Breast Strips" containing the code "Best Before 2018 SE 29".

The recall was triggered by a consumer complaint.

The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

If other high-risk products are recalled, the public will be notified through the CFIA's updated Food Recall Warnings.

The agency is ensuring that retailers across the country are removing the recalled product.
