Established in Shenyang in 1995 with an ambition to break foreign monopoly in the feed industry, Wellhope Agri-Tech Joint Stock Co is a leading feed and fowl production and processing enterprise.

Over a 22-year period, Wellhope now has more than 130 subsidiaries in 29 provinces and cities in China.

It has established ten overseas factories in North Korea, Nepal, India, Russia, Philippines, Indonesia and Iran.

In 2016, the sales revenue of the whole group hit 22 billion yuan ($3.32 billion).

"Under the downward economic pressure, animal husbandry industry is experiencing a difficult period," said Jin Weidong, chairman of Wellhope.

"Wellhope has made great breakthroughs in chicken processing and expansion into overseas markets," Mr Jin said during an interview with Chinanews.com.

Wellhope is making efforts to establish an industry chain of chicken breeding and processing by adopting modern intelligent technologies.

Currently, the company has about 30 subsidiaries in Jinlin, Liaoning, Hebei and Henan provinces.

Wellhope managed to slaughter 400 million chickens during the first 10 months of 2017, following efforts to increase its efficiency and capacity.

It has the largest marketing share in China. Moreover, Wellhope is the chicken supplier of large meat plants in Japan, South Korea and Malaysia.

To expand industrial scale, Wellhope recently invested in two projects in Shenbei New Area of Shenyang: a processing factory with a capacity to slaughter 50 million chickens per year, and a factory exporting food to Japan and South Korea.
