Aviagen® Group looks forward to welcoming delegates from across the globe to stands 16 and 17 at the World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production (WCGALP), taking place Feb. 11-16 in Auckland, New Zealand.

Every four years the conference brings together academia and industry working on livestock genetic improvement. The latest scientific developments in genetics and genomics applied to livestock will be discussed at this conference.

Genetic expertise and established breeding programs

A gold sponsor for the event, Aviagen Group will feature a full line-up of in-house poultry health and genetics specialists, including Santiago Avendano, director of Global Genetics.

Aviagen’s breeding programs for both chickens and turkeys will have prominence. Significant R&D efforts have enabled the company to make great advancements in health, welfare and performance. Aviagen has also developed the industry’s most diverse selection of poultry breeding stock that meets an array of ever-evolving customer and consumer demands worldwide.

Opportunity for knowledge and idea sharing

The conference is a great platform to share expertise and network with industry affiliates. Aviagen will focus on the economic challenges facing a global breeding company. In his presentation, Santiago will address the role of the primary breeder in successfully producing affordable animal protein to feed a growing global population amid challenges such as limited resources, poultry diseases and changing market requirements.

“The conference provides an enormous opportunity to meet with geneticists across livestock species from all over the world. It is through such events that we are able to learn about the latest scientific developments in genetics applied to livestock production which is key to Aviagen as an R&D driven company,” said Santiago.
