Pure Breed, the distributor of RossĀ® broiler breeders in Saudi Arabia, welcomed close to 145 customers to Riyadh during July 23-24 for its inaugural training academy.

Broiler and breeder managers, owners and production directors, as well as delegates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Agricultural Ministry, were in attendance.

Ross is currently the leading breed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia due to the business benefits gained by its strong performance, feed efficiency, growth rate and environmental tolerance.

According to Bulent Tanyildizi, international commercial manager, Ross Middle East and Africa (MEA), “We support Pure Breed as it works to help customers improve their business success by training them in current best practices to optimise the productivity of Ross breeders.”

Focus on biosecurity and disease prevention

The academy offered management advice to promote the performance, health and welfare of Ross broilers, presented by Ross MEA specialists. The poultry industry in Saudi Arabia is currently facing challenging times posed by a surge in Avian Influenza (AI) outbreaks, and the training placed a major emphasis on biosecurity and disease prevention.

Aviagen places the highest priority on the biosecurity of its flocks, and has been granted “compartmentalization status” for various supply bases throughout the world. Thus, in the event of disease outbreak, the company can safely export its breeding stock to any country that accepts the compartment status, providing an added protection for security of supply.

Welcome new Ross 140 Club members

The academy provided an opportunity to award Pure Breed customers Al Watania, Tanmiah, Dijla Poultry and Golden Chicken -- the latest members of the Saudi Arabia Ross 140 Club. The club recognizes customers who, through diligence and expert stockmanship, achieve performance of 140 chicks per hen housed at 60 weeks.

Successful first academy

Pure Breed CEO Moeen Alkhatib comments on the success of the Academy, “It was a great pleasure to spend time with our customers during the very first Pure Breed Academy. Our goal for the event was to address major issues relating to health and biosecurity, and the overall response was positive. We look forward to seeing them again at the second Academy in 2019.”
