Poultry prices down 11 percent in Algeria

05 November 2018

ALGERIA - 31 October 2018 (Reuters): Algeria's annual inflation fell to 4.7 percent in September from 4.8 percent the previous month after a slight decline in price of some foodstuffs, official figures showed on Wednesday

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index declined 0.3 percent in September, according to the National Statistics Bureau.

Prices for poultry and vegetables fell 11.1 percent and 5.8 percent respectively, while the cost of manufactured goods rose 0.6 percent.

The North African country has been trying to boost domestic output and cut imports in an attempt to cope with financial pressures caused by a fall in energy earnings since 2014.
