Local news agency VN Express reported that the virus began in a flock of 400 chickens in the same village. Local farmers attempted to cure their flocks before reporting to authorities, but failed, causing the disease to spread.

A cull of all remaining birds took place, with disinfection procedures carried out in the surrounding areas to prevent further spread. 20,000 shots of the H5N1 vaccine were distributed by the provincial veternary department.
