Print This Page Pakistan Sets Aside Rs 1 Billion to Promote Poultry, Livestock
PAKISTAN - The government was making sincere efforts for the promotion of poultry and livestock sectors in Pakistan, according to Punjab Industries Minister Ajmal Cheema.
He revealed that Rs1 billion has been earmarked to give loans to traders on soft terms and purchase modern equipment. The government would soon set up special training centres for enhancing poultry and livestock production by motivating the traders to adopt the modern technologies.
The minister called for the cooperation of the private sector, urging it to come forward and join hands with the government in making the country self reliant in meat and milk production.
Mr Cheema said poultry and livestock exports could be enhanced to $1 billion within two years by adopting modern techniques.
