USDA Turkey Hatchery: Eggs in Incubators on January 1 Up 1 Percent
Turkey eggs in incubators on January 1, 2012, in the United States totaled 28.1 million, up 1 percent from January 1, 2011. Eggs in incubators were down 2 percent from the December 1, 2011 total of 28.7 million eggs.Poults Hatched During December Up 4 Percent from Last Year
Turkey poults hatched during December 2011, in the United States totaled 24.5 million, up 4 percent from December 2010. Poults hatched were up 8 percent from the November 2011 total of 22.7 million poults.
Net Poults Placed During December Up 4 Percent from Last Year
The 23.5 million net poults placed during December 2011 in the United States were up 4 percent from the number placed during the same month a year earlier. Net placements were up 6 percent from the November 2011 total of 22.1 million.
