Shell Eggs Broken Up 2 Percent from Last Year
Shell eggs broken totaled 180 million dozen during September 2012, up 2 percent from September a year ago, but
8 percent below the 196 million broken last month.
During calendar year 2012 through September, shell eggs broken totaled 1,585 million dozen, up 1 percent from the comparable period in 2011. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2012 was 2,054 million pounds, up 1 percent from 2011.
