USDA International Egg and Poultry

Based on data, the US shipped 439,087 metric tons (MT) of leg quarters in the first quarter of 2012, 3% higher than the same time a year ago (424,514 MT). Comparatively, US leg quarter exports from January-March 2013 are 35% higher than 2011 (326,275 MT), 23% higher than 2010 (356,522 MT), and 4% lower than 2009 (457,182 MT).

In April 2013, the US shipped a total of 149,536 MT of leg quarters, 9% lower than March 2013 (163,556 MT) and 4% higher than April 2012 (156,091 MT). In comparison, April 2013 exports are 38% higher than April 2011 (108,309 MT), 10% higher than April 2010 (135,538 MT), and 28% higher than April 2009 (136,072 MT).

From January-April 2013 the US shipped 588,623 MT of leg quarters. From January-December 2012 the US exported a total of 1,838,714 MT, 15% higher than 2011 (1,597,765 MT), 5% higher than 2010 (1,756,339 MT), and 1% higher than 2009 (1,821,036 MT).

The leading destinations of US leg quarters from January-April in 2013 by volume are Russia (79,562 MT), Angola (58,343 MT), Mexico (46,036 MT), Iraq (44,531 MT), Cuba (40,180 MT), Kazakhstan (22,357 MT), Ghana (20,562 MT), Taiwan (20,036 MT), Georgia (19,756 MT), and Turkey (18,402 MT).

In 2012 the top destinations of US leg quarters by volume Russia (235,456 MT), Angola (179,304 MT), Mexico (131,021 MT), Cuba (123,622 MT), Kazakhstan (87,191 MT), Lithuania (84,468 MT), Georgia (73,685 MT), Iraq (72,420 MT), UAE (70,472 MT), and Taiwan (55,208 MT).
