U.S. Poultry Meat and Products Exports

Total 2014 U.S. poultry meat and products exports were up 0.4%, basically unchanged in volume when compared to 2013. Mexico continued to be the top export market, increasing 13% over the previous year. Exports to Hong Kong rose 88%, ending at second place due to sharp drops in exports to China (-29%).

Exports to Russia were down -48% for the year; in August 2014 the Russian Government announced a one year ban on agricultural products from several countries, including the United States. Russia had been a large market for U.S. broiler meat exports. Exports to Angola continued to climb, increasing 12% over a year ago while exports to Canada continued to decline, falling -5%.

The value of U.S. poultry meat and products exports in 2014 was unchanged from 2013. The top three markets by value were Mexico (+10%) Canada (-4%) and Hong Kong rose (+109%). The value of poultry meat and products exports were lower to China (-26%) and Russia (-52%). Exports to Angola rose 12% in value.
