Broiler-type and Egg-type Up with Turkey Hatch Down

Broiler-type chicks hatched during 2015 totaled 9.32 billion, up 2 percent from 2014.

Leading United States breeders had intended placements of 89.9 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during 2015, up 7 percent from 2014.

Placements of broiler chicks for meat production totaled 9.10 billion during the 52 week period ending January 2, 2015, up 2 percent from the 52 week period ending December 27, 2014.

Egg-type chicks hatched during 2015 totaled 566 million, up 9 percent from 2014.

Leading United States breeders had intended placements of 3.12 million egg-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during 2015, up 1 percent from 2014.

Turkey poults hatched during 2015 were down 4 percent from 2014, with 267 million hatched. Net poult placements totaled 258 million for 2015, down 3 percent from 2014.

The capacity of chicken hatcheries on January 1, 2016, was 907 million eggs, up 1 percent from January 1, 2015.

The capacity of turkey hatcheries was 42.2 million eggs on January 1, 2016, up 1 percent from January 1, 2015.
