Shell Eggs Broken Up 17 Percent from Last Year

September 2015 contained 22 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 4 Saturdays.

September 2016 contained 22 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 4 Saturdays.

Shell eggs broken totaled 196 million dozen during September 2016, up 17 percent from September a year ago, but 4 percent below the 204 million broken during the previous month.

During calendar year 2016, shell eggs broken totaled 1.70 billion dozen, up 7 percent from 2015. Cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2016 was 2.18 billion pounds, up 6 percent from 2015.
