The US shipped 213,218 MT of paws and feet from January-July 2012, 6% higher than the same time a year ago (200,524 MT).

Comparatively, US paw and feet exports from January-July 2012 are 27% higher than 2010 (167,833 MT), 23% lower than 2009 (278,002 MT), and 25% lower than 2008 (284,501 MT). Total US exports of paws and feet have been on the decline since 2008.

US paw and feet exports totaled 185,484 MT in the first half of 2012, 12% higher than 2011 (165,575 MT). In relation, paw and feet exports during this time are 30% higher than 2010 (143,007 MT), 17% lower than 2009 (224,038 MT), and 20% lower than 2008 (230,550 MT).

In the second quarter of 2012, US exports totaled 83,939 MT, 17% lower than the first quarter of 2012 (101,544 MT) and 4% lower than the second quarter of 2011 (87,283 MT). Total exports in the second quarter of 2012 are 8% higher than 2010 (77,864 MT), 35% lower than 2009 (129,399 MT), and 34% lower than 2008 (127,308 MT).

In July 2012, the US exported a total of 27,734 MT of paws and feet, 26% higher than June 2012 and 21% lower than July 2011. In comparison, July 2012 exports are 12% higher than July 2010 (24,826 MT) and 49% lower than July 2009 (53,964 MT) and July 2008 (53,952 MT).

The top two leading markets for US paw and feet exports have been China and Hong Kong despite ongoing trade disputes. Combined China and Hong Kong account for nearly 98% for total US paw and feet exports. Together China and Hong Kong imported 208,322 MT from January-July 2012, 6% higher than 2011 (196,245 MT), 34% higher than 2010 (155,016 MT), 23% lower than 2009 (272,173 MT), and 25% lower than 2008 (277,313 MT).
