Bakumenko said that poultry production is increasing in Ukraine because it is being put on a more industrial level as opposed to small-scale or individual production.

Production by individuals is stable at around 200,000 tons a year, whereas production by enterprises increased by 31.3 per cent year-on-year in 2006 to 550,000 tons.

Annual demand for poultry meat in Ukraine is estimated at around 600,000 tons.
