VIET NAM - Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung asked for increased action to raise people's awareness and make them voluntarily join the fight against bird flu, which has become a permanent threat to both production and human health."The fight against bird flu is an uninterrupted war which requires great responsibilities from the entire political system, mass organisations, ministries, branches and ordinary people," Hung stressed.
The Deputy Prime Minister made these requests while addressing the National Steering Committee for Bird Flu Control's conference to review its assignments in 2006 and to deploy tasks for this year. The conference took place in Hanoi on March 12.
Bird flu, which was contained in Vietnam for almost one year, re-appeared first in the Mekong delta region on December 6, 2006 and then in the northern province of Hai Duong and Hanoi.
