Print This Page RP poultry, livestock output up by 2%
The Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) revealed production of the country's poultry sub-sector as of March this year has recovered from the slump it experienced last year.BAS report said the country's poultry output has increased by 2.30 percent during the first quarter of the year.
It added that the sub-sector has contributed about 15 percent to the total agriculture production of the country.
For the first quarter of the year, chicken registered a 2.32 percent increase in production. At current prices, the sub-sector grossed P30.3 billion and indicated a 9.72 percent increase from the same period last year.
The livestock sub-sector, on the other hand, has put up almost the same growth rate that it recorded during the first quarter of last year.
There is a 2.2 percent increase noted for livestock production as of March, BAS reported.
