Guests were welcomed by the Aviagen Team and the farm owner, Mr Ron Jacobs and given a detailed tour of the farm, with special emphasis put on the vigorous biosecurity standards in place. The state-of-the-art equipment and systems in place were also demonstrated, with this farm being equipped with the most modern equipment available.

This new farm opening is only part of Aviagen's programme of ongoing investment in facilities in Hungary. Capacity at their hatchery has been increased in order to meet the significant rise in demand. A complete refurbishment of a GP rearing farm was finished late last year and further new GP contract farms are scheduled to be completed this year.

Each new farm incorporates the most up-to-date technology. We also use new technology to promote bird welfare and health. Ásványráró farm includes new lighting and egg sanitising technology, There is no internal steel work which will also help with hygiene."

The ability to meet demand directly from Hungary will provide a number of benefits to customers. Reduced transport times for chicks results in improved chick quality and better uniformity. There will also be fewer flocks of origin and a greater control over production planning.
