Mercury news says that the Vestas 225kw wind turbine will be erected onsite at the Sassafras farm in the states north tomorrow and commissioned next Tuesday.

The project has been four years in the planning and will produce enough power to supply the poultry processing operations with clean renewable energy for years to come.

According to the story it will also allow Nichols to supply excess power back into the grid to be used as required.

Company managing director Robert Nichols said the use of a turbine made Nichols Australia's leading environmentally sustainable poultry producer.
