Transparency with Internet-Based Technology

GERMANY - The Jungsthöfel family recently introduced their newly built broiler farm to the public on the occasion of an open day. The farm is located in Gehlenberg (rural district of Cloppenburg, Germany) and is furnished with Big Dutchman equipment.

More than 600 visitors took advantage of the opportunity to take a closer look at the two impressive houses for altogether 82,400 birds. Much interest was generated by the agro control and management system amacs: thanks to state-of-the-art internet-based software technology, the Jungsthöfel family is able to control the important functions of their farm by a simple mouse click — from anywhere in the world.

amacs belongs to a new generation of computer-controlled farm management systems. One of the most important aspects of amacs is that it works on the basis of network technology and modern communication technology thus allowing for permanent data registration, monitoring and management of the farm in real-time.

At the same time, all houses on a farm can easily be controlled from one location, or several locations — locally or via remote control. Both the technology and the graphical visualization are user-friendly and thus ensure an effective house management in regard to feeding, water supply, climate conditions etc. thus providing many positive advantages for a reduction of the amount of time and effort the Jungsthöfel family has to spend on the management of their farm.

Other system advantages include the modular design of amacs, which makes amacs suitable for small and large houses alike and also allows adapting and expanding amacs to the surrounding conditions at any time.

Furthermore it provides a consistent stock overview, the accrued data is stored centrally and is thus available for comparison purposes and thus allows the producers to optimize the performance yield. amacs also transmits alarm messages via e-mail or via cell phone.

In regard to feed supply, the Jungsthöfel family opted for the worldwide tried-and-tested AUGERMATIC feeding system from Big Dutchman. Both houses are equipped with eight drinker lines and four feed lines each which can be pulled up when the birds are moved out or for cleaning purposes. The used Big Dutchman-innovation Fluxx360 is a feed pan with a diameter of 360 mm, which means fewer pans are needed per house. The cleaning requirements are even further reduced by the new locking mechanism.

The grille can be released from the feed dish with a simple "click". Another new feature are the four cleaning openings at the bottom of the pan which ensure that residual liquids completely drain off. Apart from the above mentioned new features the Fluxx360 pan is also equipped with all other technical details, which have made the pans from the Fluxx family to worldwide bestsellers: slight lifting and turning of the pans allows to single-handedly adjust the pan to different feed levels.

A 360 degree feed flooding mechanism ensures a high filling level of feed in the pans during the first couple of days when the pans still sit on the floor. After the first couple of days, the feed pans are lifted based on the age and size of the birds thus reducing the feed level. Thanks to this feature, Fluxx360 fulfils both the requirements of day-old chicks and broilers in the final growing period.
