Addressing a press conference in Chennai, Mr B. Soundararajan, Managing Director of Suguna Group said the company is to launch ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat chicken products by the end of this month at its retail outlets, according to New Kerala.

One of the company's processing units in Bangalore has been converted at a cost of 60 million rupees (INR) for the production of the new chicken lines. Initially, 10 to 12 products are to be launched.

Announcing the launch of Suguna's 'Daily Fressh' - the first retail outlet of a chain of quality chicken retail stores in the city - Mr Soundararajan explained that the move follows the successful opening of 15 similar outlets in Coimbatore.

He went on to promise that in the next three to four months, 40 to 50 shops would be started in the city and 150 shops in Tamil Nadu and Kerala by the end of this year through the franchise route.

New Kerala reports that Suguna is India's largest poultry enterprise with a turnover of INR20 billion. The company sets aside INR400 million for expansion each year.
