Print This Page Georgia Poultry Output Rising
GEORGIA - The Georgian poultry industry is doing well despite difficulties in other agricultural sectors according to the latest production figures.There are 20 large and medium poultry farms and some 1500 small farms in the country, employing a total of 10,000 people, according to a report in The Messenger from Business Rezonansiormreo.
Local production accounts for around 70 per cent of eggs and 50 per cent of chicken meat consumed.
Production has been rising over recent years too, doubling between 1995 and 2005. In 2002, production was 13,200 tonnes (t), rising to 13,400t in 2003, 15,200t in 2004 and 20,000t in 2005.
