Print This Page Egg Prices Highest Ever
INDIA - Breakfast just got pricier for omelette and egg lovers in general. The prices of eggs have touched Rs 35 a dozen this week, the highest ever. A single egg is available at Rs 3, reports Expressindia.com.
The early onset of winter, higher prices of vegetables and a dip in egg production have sent egg prices soaring across the country, say poultry farm owners. “The prevailing cold wave across the country has increased egg consumption, pushing up prices,” said a local shopkeeper. Sources said egg prices are likely to stabilise during the next week.
“I eat eggs in breakfast daily and am shocked at the rates. The price of chicken is already so high. All this is adversely affecting our budget,” said a resident of Sector 15.
