BELIZE - World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has received a follow-up report listing five more outbreaks of virulent Newcastle disease.
The new report dated 2 December follows up on the first notification dated 21 November. All the newly affected farms are in Cayo and near to the previously reported outbreaks.
In total, almost 20,000 birds were involved - including turkeys, broilers, layers, pullets and broiler breeders. All the 1639 cases died and 10,800 birds were destroyed. On one farm, the birds succumbed to the disease despite vaccination 8 days previously.
