Meat Russia reports that this is the result of a decision by the Chief State Sanitary Inspector of the Russian Federation, Gennady Onishchenko. 'On using of solutions containing chlorine for poultry dressing' was published on the official web site of Rospotrebnadzor. It included the postponement of clause 1.1 of the provision 'On poultry production and turnover' to 1 January 2010.

One immediate effect of the decision is that Russian regulators have resumed issuing permits to import US poultry.
