The dynamic new one-day programme, being launched by the Royal Agricultural Society of England in partnership with leading monogastric nutrition business ABN, will take place on Wednesday 13 May 2009 at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

A live debate will kick off proceedings with delegates using state-of-the-art audience voting technology, in a first for the industry. Tackling key issues for the supply chain head on, the debate will gauge opinion from producers, processors and retailers, together with shoppers, and record their votes on the big issues of UK consumer needs, sustainability, global market influences and meeting today's challenges.

Titled The Supply Chain LIVE - What's its view?, the morning's debate will be hosted by BBC farming correspondent, Adam Henson, and supported by a panel of high-profile representatives from across the food chain.

Following up the morning session will be a chance to further discuss the issues over a networking lunch, before a series of highly focused technical and business workshops sharing the latest knowledge and advice on topics from health and welfare to business marketing.

"Producers know that thorough understanding and good management of on-farm challenges are essential in today's volatile markets and the workshops will make a valuable contribution to business competitiveness," says Alice Bell, RASE Technical Events Manager.

The day will culminate with a thought-provoking view of the industry and a final opinion from each of the panel on the most important factor influencing the future success of the supply chain followed by a concluding vote from the industry.

"It marks an exciting next step from the successful supply chain forums and workshops held at the biennial British Pig & Poultry Fair in 2008 and will offer participants an unprecedented and exclusive insight into the views of different parts of the supply chain and how, together, the industry can meet its challenges to ensure a long term, viable food supply.

"There is a limited number of visitor places and we want to ensure producers are well represented so I advise early booking for what promises to be an informative and inspirational day," Alice Bell concludes.
