Britons waste 3.3 million tonnes of food a year, but with a little inspiration Pancake Day is the perfect opportunity to make the most of those boring leftovers which can go into a delicious pancake instead of the bin. British Lion eggs have developed a series of quick and easy recipes that will turn everyday refrigerator and cupboard fillers into perfect pancakes, just in time for Shrove Tuesday, 24 February.

Grab that lonely Granny Smith apple from the fruit bowl and turn it into apple and chocolate crisp pancakes, or experiment with savoury fillings and make leftover vegetables into tasty bubble-and-squeak pancakes. There are enough recipes to keep the whole family happy this Pancake Day.

To make perfect pancakes, be sure to use eggs bearing the British Lion mark, which guarantees that they are produced to the highest standards of food safety. All Lion eggs come from British hens that have been vaccinated against salmonella, are fully traceable and have a 'best-before' date on the shell as a guarantee of freshness.
