Shell Eggs Broken Down Two Per Cent from Last Year
US - Shell eggs broken totaled 148 million dozen during February 2009, down two per cent from February a year ago, and nine per cent below the 163 million broken last month, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in their monthly Egg Products report.

February 2009 contained 20 weekdays (including one holiday) and four Saturdays. February 2008 contained 21 weekdays (including one holiday) and 4 Saturdays.
During calendar year 2009 through February, shell eggs broken totaled 311 million dozen, down four per cent from the comparable period in 2008. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2009 was 405 million pounds, down 4 per cent from 2008.
