Print This Page Low-Path Bird Flu Back in Germany
GERMANY - The veterinary authorities have informed the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) about a new case of low-pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI).
The German veterinary authority sent an Immediate Notification to the OIE dated 14 April 2009.
The report covers a new case of LPAI at Kleve in North Rhine-Westphalia. It involved a flock of 16,700 birds, of which 454 died. The remaining birds were destroyed.
The presence of the H7N7 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
The last outbreak of LPAI in Germany was in February 2009.
