Print This Page Fresh Hope for Chicken Merger Plans
AUSTRALIA - A merger between two of Australia's major chicken processors could still go ahead, because of a new proposal.Baiada Poultry wanted to acquire Bartter Enterprises, which owns the Steggles brand, but in February the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission blocked the move.
According to Australia's ABC, Baiada has since put up a new proposal, where, upon acquiring Bartter, it will sell all assets owned by Bartter in Victoria to La Ionica Poultry.
The assets include Bartter's Geelong processing plant, breeding farms and a feed mill in North Melbourne.
The ACCC will take submissions on the new proposal until Friday.
