Based at the University of Manitoba's Glenlea Research Station, the National Centre for Livestock and the Environment engages in multidisciplinary partnerships involving researchers from a variety of backgrounds working to enhance the economic and environmental sustainability of integrated livestock and crop production systems.

We've been going out and meeting with different members of commodity groups just trying to get the face of NCLE more in peoples' minds and getting out the message about what we do at NCLE.

Two recent initiatives that we've taken on, they were both launched at the beginning of the year, we've put up a revised web site.

If you go the web site, which you can get to just by googling "NCLE," you can see what our research focus is, who makes up our research team at this point and what our research program is all about.

On the web site there is full listing of all the projects that we're doing, our resources as far as our research infrastructure and the different locations where NCLE does research.

As well you can see what we're doing beyond research.

That's a new feature.

As another initiative we've started an electronic newsletter where we give you a snapshot of what's going on at that time and feature a specific project or two in more detail.

So far this year we've put out two editions.

We've made this a bi-monthly feature.

The new issue is going to be coming out at the end of May and, if you're not already on our list to receive the newsletter, you can easily sign up for our newsletter by going to our web site.

Ms Rawluk adds construction of the Glenlea Farm Education Centre, slated to begin this year, will provide another vehicle for communicating the value of agriculture and the research that strengthens it.
