H5 Bird Flu Found in Mongolian Swans

MONGOLIA - The veterinary authorities have reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that they have found what may be highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in wild birds.

The Mongolian veterinary authority sent an Immediate Notification dated 28 May to OIE, reporting the suspicious death of a group of swans.

Nine migratory swans were found dead at Doitiin tsagaan Lake in Arkhangai province on 22 May. A further bird was destroyed.

The presence of an H5 virus has been confirmed.
