Farmer Wings His Way to M&S Champions' Award

UK - Northern Irish poultry farmer, Seamus Kane, who is a producer for Moy Park, Northern Ireland's largest food processing company, has won the prestigious Marks and Spencer ‘Champion of Champions’ Farming for the Future award.

The scheme recognises the world’s most innovative and forward thinking farmers.

Having claimed the regional Northern Ireland Marks and Spencer ‘Plan A’ award at the Balmoral Show in May 2011, Mr Kane has gone on to secure the coveted title of ‘Champion of Champions’, for his sustainable farming practises.

Mr Kane produces chicken, which is processed by Moy Park and sold under the M&S brand across the UK.

“I am delighted to have won the ‘Champion of Champions’ award for sustainable farming," he said.

"Our poultry house has been designed to the highest welfare specifications and includes double glazed windows to allow the birds to enjoy natural light.

"We also continue to reduce our carbon footprint and focus on high animal welfare, information sharing, animal husbandry, attitude to the environment and the preservation of the family farm near Ballyclare.
