Poultry Health Companies Support the WVPA Congress
Reflecting the company's engagement in global poultry industry, Merial supported the World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) Congress for the first time in November 2009 as one of its leading sponsors, along with CEVA Santé Animale and Intervet/Schering Plough Animal Health, writes Jackie Linden, editor of ThePoultrySite.

In the busy exhibition area, the Merial stand focussed particularly on Vaxxitek, the company's latest vaccine against Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD).
Fifteen years of involvement in the development of vaccine equipment have brought to the market the AccuVac and Zootec delivery systems. There were demonstration models and videos on the stand, and experts were on hand to answer questions and offer advice on their use.
Two companies shared the Merial stand: MCI Santé Animale, one of Morocco's leading veterinary pharmaceutical companies, and Coophavet, a private veterinary laboratory in France.
On the day before the Congress opened, Merial organised a successful workshops – on vaccination and vaccine technology – which included presentations by internationally recognised experts from different organisations.
The company was also active within the Congress scientific programme, with a total of 18 papers and posters submitted and accepted for presentation. Eleven of these were on Merial's Vaxxitek.
The star attraction in Merial's programme was a symposium entitled 'A unique solution for IBD control'. Despite being held in the evening at the end of a packed programme of scientific presentations, the symposium attracted the attention of many of the delegates. The hall seating 450 was packed throughout the session.
