At Aviagen, we want to support you in this effort. We provide healthy, robust breeding chicks for you to raise into breeders and broilers on your farms. From there they become a valuable food source for families in your community.

Next, we use multiple methods to ensure your chicks arrive safely, regardless of where you are located on the globe. One such strategy that we have put in place is a global supply network, with production bases on five continents. That way, if there are restrictions caused by a global pandemic, natural disaster, bird illness, or another challenge in one area of the world, we can change locations to ship our day-old chicks from.

Further, we have production bases and knowledgeable teams close to your farms to support you. More than 260 production facilities and 27 hatcheries serve our customers in over 100 countries. Giving you this local touch is important to us, so we invest heavily to make it happen.

We also know how important food safety and security are to you and your customers in being able to rely on the steady availability of quality birds. That is why biosecurity is another high a top priority for us. Our biosecurity programme and protocols are unmatched in the industry, and compliance is checked through global audits across all our locations.

Aviagen Top 5 Commitments -- Breeding Economic, Environmental and Social Sustainability

The three pillars of sustainability have been universally defined as Social, Environment and Economic (or, People, Planet and Profits). Based on these pillars, the United Nations has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a call to action to help the world’s people thrive, while protecting the planet they call home. In this series of blog posts, Aviagen speaks directly to our customers, the world’s chicken producers, about how supporting these goals affects their businesses for now and for generations to come.

Tim Burnside, Global Manager of Welfare, Sustainability and Compliance for Aviagen Group, tells us that, “Our Top 5 Commitments support the five SDGs prioritised by the International Poultry Council (IPC) in that they are focused on eliminating hunger, promoting good health and well-being, supporting innovation, driving education, and protecting our planet for generations to come.”
