Why is managing feed costs increasingly complicated? How is the pandemic still affecting poultry production systems? What does research tell us about the relationship between cost reduction strategies and bird performance?

Dr. Kelley Wamsley, associate professor of poultry nutrition at Mississippi State University, has the answers to these questions and more in the #ScienceHearted Food Chain Chats episode with host Andy Vance. Dr. Wamsley also explores what her team at Mississippi State has done to investigate cost cutting measuring that won’t affect bird performance and shares her advice for anyone struggling with cost-cutting decisions but isn’t sure where to start.

Dr. Wamsley earned her Ph.D. from West Virginia University. In her current role, she explores the effects of physical feed quality on broiler performance, practical applications of feed additives and alternative feed ingredients, and energy formulation strategies, with over 140 published works.
