The Croad Langshan is a rare breed that originates from north China. It is a large, rare breed that has red wattles, earlobes and a single comb. The color variations are black, white and blue. Langshans have a U shaped body with an upright head and tail that gives them a majestic appearance. They have feathered legs and are one of the tallest breeds. They mature quickly and produce a good number of brown eggs.

They are active, enjoy foraging and have good temperaments. Although they are not flighty, they are able to climb so adequate height fencing is required to contain them. It is a hardy species that tolerates cooler climates. The hens make good mothers and they are very attentive to their chicks. Because they have feathered legs, the environment should be kept dry to avoid matting of the feathers around the feet. Males weigh around 4 kg and the females around 3.1 kg. There are bantam versions of this breed available.
